Ercan Sneakers

I built Ercan Sneakers' first site myself, three years ago. Back then the store went live quickly on an off-the-shelf WooCommerce theme. WooCommerce is the plugin that adds store features to WordPress.

Over time the interface became dated and the site slowed down noticeably. Neither the store's look nor its speed reflected where the brand stands today.

I redesigned the site from scratch with mobile use at the center. The goal was to match the smoothness of a premium shopping app in the browser.

• I dropped the off-the-shelf theme and built the new site on Hello Elementor, a simple and lightweight starter theme.
• I designed the interface for phone screens first, then adapted it to larger screens.
• I kept plugins to a minimum. Every plugin adds load to the page, so only the ones that were truly needed stayed.
• I did SEO and GEO work for the product and category pages. SEO is the set of changes that make a site more visible on Google. GEO pursues the same goal for the answers given by AI assistants such as ChatGPT and Gemini.

In Google PageSpeed Insights, the new site scores 99 for performance and 100 for accessibility, best practices and SEO. PageSpeed Insights is Google's free tool that measures a page's speed and technical health.

Ercan Sneakers now has a store built for its own brand. It loads fast, is smooth to browse on a phone and gives its products a stronger presence in search results.
